Shelley Reserves 7 Vs Wooldale Wanderers 0. Saturday 4th September 2010

Shelley found themselves up against a frustrating wooldale team who seemed determined to keep the score down. Shelley immediatly took the game to wooldale with debutant Liam Hallam blazing over after only a matter of minutes after an excellent run down the left flank. Shelley continued to pepper the wooldale goal but woeful shooting and finishing kept the visitors in the game. The only bright sparks being a vatani volley which rattled the bar and one of chris allens many attempts finally finding the target but the wooldale keeper was upto the challenge and tipped the ball over. A finally fit again John Medley eventually broke the deadlock with minutes remaining in the first half after collecting the ball from a poor clearance and calmly slotting the ball past the keeper. A haltime team talk, change of formation and the introduction of Rob O Connor seemed to give Shelley a new lease of life and the combination of Lewis Butterfield and Liam Hallam began to give wooldale all sorts of problems. Another debutant was next to get on the score sheet with Carl Tyler scoring Shelleys second of the game with a screamer from the edge of the box. Shelley made another change bringing on Leeming down the right. A penalty from Chris Allen made it 3-0 after good work from Butterfield. And Leeming then turned provider for Butterfield to make the scorline 4-0. John medley then got his second of the game following up quickly after a shot was spilled and Butterfield was credited with his second of the game after his deflected shot found the back of the wooldale net. Butterfield completed his hatrick after an excellent cross from the right from Leeming found Butterfield in the box and a kung fu style finish from the youngster found the back of the net. All in all this was an excellent start to the season for Shelley and new management duo Robinson and Centeno but performances and efforts will need to be doubled if Shelley want to continue their good start to the season with a tough trip to Diggle next week.
